Angel or Demon? What do you choose for a hero?

First let’s get to the give away. Leave me a comment about who you prefer as a hero, an angel or a demon and you’ll be entered to win a paperback copy of Centauri Series: The Complete Collection. It contains all three Centauri books, Centauri Dawn, Centauri Twilight and Centauri Midnight. I will be giving away one copy each day, so four chances to win with just one comment. Also, by commenting here, you’ll automatically be entered into the prize drawing for the GRAND prizes of a Kindle Touch to one winner and a $60 gift card to another. When you comment you MUST include your email address to be included in the drawings for the Grand prizes.

Okay, let’s be honest here.  What kind of hero do you prefer an angel or a demon?  I’m talking run of the mill angels here, not arc angels which are a category unto themselves.

Me?  I prefer demons.  They are the bad boys we all love to try and reform.  An angel is already a good guy.  If we try to change him, then we are corrupting him rather than saving him.  Generally, I don’t want my heroines to be a BAD influence on people.

With a demon as a hero there are so many opportunities to “save” him.  What heroine worth her salt could resist such a challenge?  None of mine could.

Unfortunately for me, I don’t write about either angels or demons.  If I did, I’d most certainly choose demons, simply because they’d be more fun to write about.  There are unlimited possibilities for plots and redemption.

You noticed I refer to my demon as my hero, not my heroine.  Because I write romance, first and foremost, I automatically think that my demon character would be the demon.  And because I write romance with happily ever after endings, there must be some form of redemption, usually by the hero before the book ends.

So what happens to a demon hero after he’s been redeemed.  Is he still a demon?  In your world you can make it anyway you want it.  In my world, if he’s been redeemed, he’s also been thrown out of hell and is not a demon anymore.  But that doesn’t mean he isn’t still the worlds greatest lover.  Some things simply can’t be changed.

  2. I’m in the minority, but I like Angels as heros. They can be Fallen Angels, but…angels nevertheless.

  3. I’m partial to both. I write about demons, but there’s something about angels. Who says an angel can’t be a reformed bad boy?

As long as the angel or demon has a body that catches my eye, I’m cool!

  4. What if we created a hero that was 1/2 of both, angel (for the wings, cause they’re cool) and demon (for the raging passion and devious nature). He could a war with himself and the heroine is the one that helps him make peace with his two warring sides. But if I have to choose one, I’m going with Angel and I’d keep him busy keeping me (oops I mean the heroine) out of trouble. Bahahaha!

  5. My book’s title: “Immortal Relations” doesn’t mean they’re for “Camp Demon”, far from it. My vamps are “the good guys & gals” and on the side of the Angles (but it also doesn’t mean they don’t enjoy erotic sex)!

  6. I’ll go with angel because who hasn’t dreamed of flying? Plus fighting a neverending battle against evil takes serious strength and doesn’t necessarily leave an angel unscathed.

  7. I love angels, but who can resist those naughty demons? Don’t the goody-goody-two-shoes always fall for the bad boys and the bad ones are drawn to the good girls. In a strange way the bad and good finds its way to be together.

  10. Hey! I am having a tough time choosing. I love the idea of the bad boy, but those good guys have their own appeal. Can I have both????

  11. Have a hard time buying into demons as heroes–not the full bore out-and-out evil ones. Same goes for angels–you read up on these folks and they are bad ass. So I’m for straight up human with a touch of something else.

  12. Seems most people prefer Demons, but I prefer Angels. Demons are too emotionally high maintenance. I couldn’t stand all the drama they likely have swirling around them most of the time.

  13. I prefer angels. I like a bad boy, but angels seem less likely to cause problems, haha. emily joy drake at gmail dot com

  14. Actually I would prefer something different in a way. I like seeing the different aspects and perspectives on both “species” In folklore, not all demons are evil. And in some depictions, not all angels have compassion for humans just compassion for what they are told to do. That is what interests me more. novels with a demon that is more compassionate, or an Angel who is a fierce warrior, Those are the kinds of novels that really perk me up to read it. Don’t get me wrong I love a bad demon, But sometimes I love to be surprised. So I can’t choose between the two but I do like different variations of them in romance because it’s stimulating. It’s not predictable.

  16. I think I prefer the Demon, they tend to be a little more interesting and can end up going either way 😉 Thank you for participating in the fun hop!

  17. Angel fan here. I do love demons, but Angels have that whole “fight against temptation” thing that gets my blood going. And who says they have to be “good?” I’m not talking about Fallen Angels, either.

In my mind, the best Angel stories show them with faults. Lots of faults. Authors who twist the myths, show me the unexpected, usually leave me awed.

  18. I have never been able to choose between angels and demons. When a story is well written, either is quite exquisite.
Thanks for the chance to win!!
